Dear Neighbor,

I am Ruth Page Jones. I live on Oak View Drive in Waukesha, Wisconsin. You and I probably have several things in common. We are residents of the Waukesha community. We are concerned citizens and we are probably a little frustrated with politics as usual.

I think it is time for our voices to be heard. I am the Democratic candidate for State Assembly District 97. I am running for this office because I want to make state government work for you. I want to represent you: your concerns, your dreams and your hopes.

Elected officials must be prepared to respond to ever-changing situations. While views on today’s issues are relevant when making your choice, the character of the candidate and the skills she can bring to the office can give you a better sense of her ability to represent you over time as issues change. I hope my biography illuminates the qualities that I will bring to this office working for Waukesha, working for you.

My Professional Skills and Background

My experience in the information technology field helped me develop leadership skills in cooperative problem-solving, strategic planning, and communication. Working in the technology and telecommunications field, I had to be very good at quickly absorbing and applying difficult technical concepts. I learned to apply logic and common sense when analyzing problems, developing workable solutions, and persuading executive management to take action. My Family

My husband and I grew up in small, rural communities in South Dakota. Both my parents instilled in all their nine children a strong commitment to community service. They provided excellent examples as community leaders who supported business development, agricultural growth and public education with large quantities of their time and financial investment.

They also provided excellent examples of family commitment and religious faith, celebrating over 50 years of marriage and creating a loving home environment.

My husband, Bill, and I have been married for 29 years and experienced our greatest joy as we welcomed our two adopted sons Eric, now 20, and Christopher, now 17, into our lives. My Commitment to Our Community

After living in Waukesha for 17 years, I know Waukesha well. I have been involved in so many organizations and have always enjoyed the benefits of its parks and cultural assets. I am a huge fan of the downtown business district and make an effort to support local businesses everywhere in this community.

As I walk the neighborhoods, I see the strong character of the people in this community: we love our children and grandchildren; we take pride in our homes and pets, and we make the effort to know and support our neighbors. It is clear we hope to continue living in a community where we value an enjoyable quality of life.

I am ready and able to take on the responsibility of representing Waukesha in state government. I need your help to make this happen.
